Written by a soldier who had just arrived at Camp Upton, New York, during WWI, in July 1918. He was in Headquarters Company, 52nd Pioneer Infantry. From the letter…….Well we arrived in our new home last night about 12:30 after riding from 10 Sat. morning. We came up to Philadelphia. Then up to New York. Took the Ferry over to Long Island City and out here by train. Some awful ride but are resting this morn. And don’t feel to bad after such a ride. We haven’t nice quarters at all, but we may not be here vey long and hard to tell where we will go next. Never can tell but will have to go just the same……It takes around two hours to come out here from N.Y…….
