Written by a soldier at U.S. General Hospital No. 14, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, in May 1919. From the letter……….Well I was with Ben yesterday and told him to come up to my ward this afternoon and I would take him over to see Lester. So he did and we were all together this afternoon…….. Well I suppose you have a world of people today as it is decoration day. Wish I could have been there but still I don’t like a decoration for it looks to much like having a picnic over the dead……Say my leg is so sore today worse than it has been for a long time. Don’t know what the trouble is.....
