WWI
USS Perkins 1946

Written by a sailor serving aboard the USS Perkins, shortly after the end of WWII. He was writing from Okinawa, in February, 1946. From the letter…….There’s some really hot dope in the air, and no foolin! I don’t understand why it’s a big secret, but only one RM and one QM know about it, and have been sworn to secrecy by threat of having the boom lowered on them. So the wildest rumors are flying around, as all hands speculate as to what it might be. Oh, if it only means going home!…….
