Home This letter was written in February of 1968, by a 1st Lieutentant, who was in Vietnam. Some excerpts from the letter. Hi love how are you? I hope everthing is going well with you. Things here are fine. I could say "wish you were here" but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I would rather say "wish I was there", How's that?.........I just returned from a little party with some of the NCO's. I ate 3 steaks. Right now I'm stuffed, but they sure were good..........I'm in the process of obtaining a weapon of my own I will be getting a 30 Cal. carbine in the near future. This will be my personal weapon to keep with me at all times. Maybe I'll be able to bring it home with me......

Written by a 1st Lieutenant, who was in Vietnam, in July 1968. From the letter…..Well honey, today was a fairly good day. Our command passed it’s 2 day inspection. Oh happy day, This was very important and a good score affects everyone. I have eight sections under my control and none of them received any deficiencies. (I’m bragging now) Anyway, I’m glad it’s over……I’m enclosing what I think is a cute picture of a little Vietnamese girl……Note the big pails of water she was carrying…….. Written by a First Lieutenant, who was in Vietnam, in April 1968. From the letter……I decided after the other night, I will be very happy when I depart from this place. Here’s what happened. I was awakened by a huge bug slowly crawling across my bare back. I waited until it got to at place I would reach it, and I killed it. Well, it turned out to be a cockroach about the size of a silver dollar. About a half hour later, I heard a sound which gave me a start. It sounded like someone had thrown something into the blades of my fan. Well, it turned out to be a rat who had unexpectedly walked into the fan. I turned the lights on and there he was all nice and dead. What a nice place this is isn’t it?
Written by a 1st Lt. , May 30, 1968, while he was in Vietnam. From the letter……What a day it was today. Even thought it was a holiday in the U.S.A. we didn’t honor it here. In fact the flag in our compound flew at full staff until 1000 when someone remembered it was Memorial Day.
